Samsung Galaxy Grand year of release. Review of the Samsung I9082 Galaxy Grand Duos smartphone: a top-class dual-SIM device

When choosing a smartphone for each user, there are important aspects that must be present in it. However, sometimes the choice is made in favor of more expensive flagship models, although subsequently most of their functionality is still not used.

But do not forget that some budget gadgets may have no worse functionality, and the performance is quite enough for trouble-free use, and they cope with all everyday tasks. The Grand Duos GT-I9082 is exactly such a model, the characteristics of which are far from flagship ones, but the device deserves attention.

Design and ergonomics

The smartphone features Samsung's signature design and has a physical Home button at the bottom of the screen. In general, the appearance is attractive, but it is not entirely convenient for using the gadget with one hand. The fact is that the back cover is glossy, and the phone can easily slip out of your hands. In addition, it collects fingerprints well and scratches easily. Therefore, immediately after purchasing a smartphone, you should think about purchasing a case that covers the back cover, such as a bumper.

In total, the Samsung Galaxy Grand Duos GT-I9082 smartphone is made in two color variations - white and blue. The blue one looks more attractive because it has a light metallic tint with shine, while the white one is no different from devices from other manufacturers. The build quality is high, there are no gaps or creaks, and the back cover closes tightly.

In addition to the large Home button, other controls are located on the smartphone in the usual Samsung style. The power/unlock button is located on the right side, the volume rocker is on the left. The top end is occupied only by a headphone jack, while the bottom has a USB connector and a microphone hole. The flash, camera and speaker are lined up at the top of the gadget. The camera protrudes a little, and there is a slight bulge on the speaker grille, which ensures high volume when the smartphone is lying on the table on the back cover.

Display

There are no complaints about the display diagonal - it is an honest 5-inch that has become the standard for modern state employees. However, the picture quality has greatly deteriorated, and there are two main reasons for this. The first is the rather low resolution for such a diagonal, which is only 800 x 480 pixels. This value is too low, and pixelation is clearly visible even without a detailed examination of the image. The second reason is the use of a simple TFT matrix. If there were at least IPS here, the low resolution could be forgiven, but with the low viewing angles inherent in this particular technology, the picture quality becomes completely sad. Therefore, the display can definitely be attributed to the disadvantages of this device.

The sensor of the device is classic for budget models. The response is fast and accurate, multi-touch is supported up to five touches. The display is protected by glass, but not tempered glass, so you should consider protecting it from scratches with a protective film or glass. Using the Samsung Galaxy Grand Duos GT-I9082 sensor, whose characteristics are still pleasant, is quite convenient, and does not cause any particular complaints.

Main camera

The Samsung Galaxy Grand 2 Duos GT-I9082 smartphone has two cameras with pretty good characteristics. The main one has a resolution of 8 megapixels and high-quality optics, which allows you to take clear, noise-free pictures in clear weather and fairly acceptable quality photos in artificial or low light. In addition, there is the ability to shoot video in 1920 x 1080 resolution at up to 30 frames per second. The LED flash doesn't really help with photography, but it can serve as an excellent flashlight.

Front-camera

The front camera has a resolution of 2 megapixels, which is quite enough for pleasant video communication. Selfies can also be taken, but only if there is good lighting, otherwise the photos will turn out noisy and unclear. But in general, regarding the cameras, the smartphone got pretty good results for a budget phone.

Autonomy

The smartphone has a battery with an average capacity for this price segment of 2100 mAh. According to the manufacturer, this capacity should be enough for 10 hours of calls on a 2G network. And it is here that the presence of a display matrix that does not require power makes itself felt and becomes a plus, increasing the operating time on a single charge. As a result, the smartphone can easily survive a day of active use with either mobile Internet or Wi-Fi always on. If you use it mainly for calls and short correspondence, then the battery will last for 2-3 days.

It is worth noting that the Samsung GT-I9082 Galaxy Grand Duos battery is quite durable, and its capacity does not begin to noticeably drop after the first 100 cycles, as is observed from other manufacturers.

Hardware specifications

It is often impossible to find any MTK or similar budget crystal from Samsung and similar manufacturers. Likewise, this model has a Broadcom BCM28155 chip installed, which has 2 cores with frequencies of 1.2 GHz each. Graphics processing is provided by the VideoCore IV video accelerator. It can be seen that the Samsung Galaxy Grand Duos GT-I9082 has far from flagship characteristics, and could have problems in operation if not for the low resolution of the display. Thanks to it, the interface remains smooth, and using the smartphone is quite comfortable, although there are some slight stutters. However, you can safely forget about heavy gaming applications with high demands on the graphics subsystem - they simply either will not start or will not work correctly.

For simultaneous operation of several applications, 1 GB of RAM is provided. It is enough to use a couple of instant messengers and a browser without constantly closing each application. To store user and system files, the device received 8 GB of non-volatile memory. The system out of the box takes up about 4 GB, the rest of the volume is available to the user. It’s worth noting right away that applications are not transferred to the memory card, so it would be best to leave this volume just for them, and to download music, videos, movies and other content you need to install a MicroSD memory card with a capacity of up to 64 GB. To connect your smartphone to your computer and reset files, you should download the driver for the Samsung Galaxy Grand Duos GT-I9082, which can be found on the manufacturer’s official website.

When purchasing a memory card with the maximum capacity for the device, it is best to immediately check it for compatibility right in the store, since it was noticed that some cards, despite the fact that they were correctly formatted, were not visible to the smartphone.

Software

Out of the box, the device comes with firmware based on Android 4.1.2. Subsequently, if desired, it can be updated over the air to version 4.2.2. Unfortunately, the manufacturer stopped supporting the smartphone with this version; the appearance of custom firmware with a newer version of the system is also unlikely, at least they are not yet in the special topic Samsung Galaxy Grand Duos GT-I9082 w3bsit3-dns.com.

The software is well optimized, which reduces battery consumption and improves the smoothness of the interface; this is often emphasized by users when they write reviews about the Samsung Galaxy Grand Duos GT-I9082. Like other devices from Samsung, the smartphone received the TouchWiz Nature UX branding. However, along with this interface, the smartphone contains a large number of proprietary applications, which, however, may be useless for some. Unfortunately, they are system-wide and cannot be removed without rooting the system.

On December 18, 2013, Samsung announced the release of the Galaxy Grand smartphone, which is now available in two different colors and variants. One option is Samsung Grand Duos - a device designed for 2 SIM cards. The gadget is available for sale in blue and white colors.

This model can largely be seen as a smaller version of the Galaxy Note II or a larger version of the Galaxy SIII, depending on your point of view. If you're used to the Note II model, you'll find the Grand Prime Duos very comfortable to hold in your hands. This smartphone is not only smaller in size, but also a little thinner. The device feels quite solid to the touch, and its back has a textured background similar to the Galaxy S4.

On the front panel of the device you can see the front camera, sensors, external speakers and, of course, 5.0 inches. Since the speakers are located on the left side of the device, the volume switches are on the right. There is a headset jack on the top of the smartphone. The developers in this model did not move the MicroUSB charging points from the bottom of the device, so their location is exactly the same as in the Galaxy SII.

On the back of the smartphone there is an LED flashlight, speaker and 8 MP camera. The body is made entirely of plastic. This shouldn't be a real problem when using the phone, as Samsung uses very durable plastic. However, such material does not give the device a “luxurious” look.

Interface

Samsung Grand Duos uses Samsung's own Nature UX interface. It can also be found on the Galaxy SIII and Galaxy Note II smartphones, for example. But due to their own system requirements, the developers had to simplify it somewhat to ensure it runs smoothly on the Galaxy Grand. This means that not all advanced features are available on this device.

However, many useful options are still present. One of them is SmartStay, which allows you to detect whether you are using the device or not at the moment, and also monitors the front camera. This way the screen can switch faster. The feature also ensures that the screen doesn't unexpectedly go dark due to timeout while an app is open.

Another good feature of the smartphone is multi-windows. Since the device's screen is quite large, it is equipped with a Multi-Window option, which makes it possible to open two windows on the screen at the same time. This is very convenient if you like multitasking.

However, not all applications are included in this model by default.

As noted earlier, the Samsung Grand Duos has a 5.0 "screen with a resolution of 480 × 800 pixels. Because of this, some icons seem overly large, which can be somewhat annoying, especially if you're not used to it. The interface used on the Galaxy Grand Duos is by default assumes the presence of menus and widgets on the desktop that can change size in both width and height.

There are some disadvantages to using SIM cards at the same time. For example, when switching from one card to another, this is not recorded on the screen. Thus, you may not immediately notice which SIM card is active at the moment.

There is a separate item in the settings menu to control the Dual-SIM option. Thus, the user can choose which SIM card to use to connect to the Internet and make phone calls. In addition, you can temporarily disable one SIM card or enable both cards at the same time.

As you navigate through the interface, you will notice that the device works very well when browsing through menus.

Screen

The resolution is quite low, the number of pixels per inch (PPI) is also slightly lower than usual - only 187. Compared to the Galaxy S4 (the same which has a PPI of 441, the difference is obvious - more than double! However, the screen Looks pretty good and the price of the device is significantly lower Colors are displayed very naturally, except for shades of black, which may seem like a problem when watching videos (like YouTube), especially if you're used to an AMOLED screen.

Camera

Samsung developers use an 8-megapixel rear camera in this model, as well as a 2-megapixel front camera. The rear 8 MP device can take excellent pictures with a maximum resolution of 3264× out of 2448 pixels. Samsung Grand Duos can also record Full HD video.

Most people don't use the front camera in everyday life because video calling on smartphones is not very popular. However, it is very good and has a number of useful functions, for example, SmartStay.

The rear camera can shoot in several modes. One of these modes is with brightness adjustments. Some different landscape modes are also available. In addition, panoramic shooting can be done. For panoramic shots, the maximum picture angle is 180 degrees.

Battery

The developers used an excellent battery in the Samsung Galaxy Grand Prime Duos. The capacity of this battery is 2100 mAH - this is enough to guarantee a whole day of intensive use of this device. With average smartphone use, the battery can last from 1 to 3 days. With very intensive use of the device, this time will be about 1 full day. In standby mode, the device operates for 2 to 3 weeks.

Call interface

Samsung Grand Primeve Duos has no problems with reception even in areas with poor network coverage. The sound from the speakers is clear and quite loud.

Smart dial is available whenever you press a preset number for a specific contact. The disadvantage of searching in the phone book is that contacts are sorted when searching only by the first letter. On the other hand, viewing recent calls is always available, and you can search among them. If more than one contact is found as a result of the request, a button with a number and an arrow will allow you to move through the list in search of the desired item.

The call log tab is located next to the dialing menu. It displays all dialed, received and missed calls in one list. There is a tiny icon identifying the SIM card from which the call was made or received.

Call and messages

The smartphone's ringing sound is quite sharp and can be loud enough for most situations. The vibration is also very noticeable.

When typing messages, one advantage of the phone can be noted - the text input field increases as much as it may be needed (adding up to 10 lines).

Adding multimedia content to a message automatically turns it into an MMS. You can quickly add a photo or audio file to send along with text, or compose an MMS right away using all the available features (such as multiple slides, layouts, etc.).

The Gmail app supports batch operations, which let you move multiple emails to Archive, Viewed, or Trash at once. By default, the service supports multiple Gmail accounts.

Another cool feature is that in the mailbox, you can slide your finger left or right to move between messages.

The smartphone also has a combo mailbox that brings all your mail into one folder. This can be very convenient if you have many accounts and just want to periodically check to see if there's a new message that's worth your attention.

Keyboard

The Samsung Galaxy Grand Prime Duos G531H comes with a keyboard that comes with multiple text input options. Thus, there is a traditional QWERTY mode, which can switch to portrait and landscape orientations.

There are several bonuses that this keyboard can offer. You can slide your finger left and right to switch between letters and symbols, and you can also enable the Continuous Typing option, which lets you type words by drawing solid lines over the keys (similar to Swype).

The Samsung Grand Prime Duos smartphone has advanced text recognition capabilities to minimize typos. If you enable the appropriate settings, it will scan your email, Facebook and Twitter messages and remember the words and phrases you use most often.

Samsung Grand Duos - performance characteristics

This characteristic of the phone can be defined as rather controversial. As mentioned above, the performance of the Galaxy Grand Duos is quite good, but not excellent in some areas. Most people probably won't notice this, but to experts, such details are immediately noticeable. At the same time, we must not forget that the Samsung Grand Prime VE Duos is positioned on the market as a mid-price Android phone. Android users who are used to high-end smartphones will probably be disappointed, but such a comparison of gadgets is incorrect.

This model comes with a 1.2 GHz dual-core processor that is fast enough to provide users with a smooth experience and speedy completion of everyday tasks. However, this device is not intended for the use of games and heavy programs, so their proper operation cannot be guaranteed.

Samsung Grand Duos - reviews and conclusions

What is the result? Galaxy Grand Duos is an excellent device for users who want to purchase an inexpensive smartphone with two SIM cards. It is comfortable to hold in your hands, and it works quite quickly. Most users are satisfied with the performance of the gadget. Samsung's built-in NatureUX interface makes it very easy and enjoyable to use.

Users may find themselves a little disappointed with the phone's screen, especially its resolution. Many of those who leave negative reviews note this particular drawback. And this is true - primarily due to the fact that the icons on the desktop seem too large, and the PPI has a very small indicator. The smartphone's camera and battery, on the other hand, perform quite well. This advantage was noted by many owners.

Thus, the Samsung Galaxy Grand Duos, reviews of which are generally positive, is suitable for those who want to buy a phone that can handle two SIM cards at the same time.

Samsung has long taken a leading position in all price segments among Android smartphones. Now the next step is to repeat the success among dual-SIM Android smartphones. So far, Samsung has succeeded. And now the manufacturer is announcing a huge DualSIM - Galaxy Grand Duos - a smartphone with a 5-inch TFT display with a resolution of 800x480 pixels. You could expect something similar from little-known manufacturers who are trying with all their might to grab a piece of the pie from a huge market, but from the leader you expect something more impressive, with a screen with a resolution of 960x540 pixels, or better yet, 1280x720 pixels. When the smartphone came to us for testing, we could not even imagine how it would all turn out. It turned out that Samsung once again managed to create a device that other manufacturers will look up to.

We reviewed a test sample of the Samsung Galaxy Grand Duos with a couple of defects on the body, so we will not evaluate the build quality.

The design of the new product has become closer to, while the younger model is more like. Dimensions of the smartphone are 143.5 x 76.9 x 9.6 mm, weight 162 g. For comparison, dimensions of the Galaxy S III are 136.6 x 70.6 x 8.6 mm, weight 133 g, Galaxy Note II – 151.1 x 80 ,5x9.4 mm, weight 180 g. Since the screen diagonal in the Grand Duos is 5 inches, it would be most correct to compare it with the Galaxy S III with a 4.8-inch screen, but the numbers suggest that we are looking at a slightly smaller copy Note II than the grown-up Galaxy S III. The smartphone does not look compact - it is a large device with a large screen and a glossy body, however, Grand Duos fits comfortably in the hand.

On the front side of the case there is a set of sensors, a speaker, a camera and keys. Only the event indicator is missing. The hardware Home key rises above the glass, and its edges are cut to give the user the impression that it is made of metal. It looks unusual and attractive.

The silver plastic around the perimeter of the case is designed to resemble metal as much as possible. It contains the power button, volume button, headphone jack, charger and a small microphone hole.

On the back side, in one line, there is a recess for removing the cover, a flash LED, a camera eye and two speaker slots. Under the cover are hidden slots for SIM 1 and SIM 2, as well as memory cards. Access to the SIM 1 and memory card slot is blocked by the battery, while the SIM from the second slot is hot-swappable. For a smartphone, it doesn’t matter where each SIM is; in the menu you can set the 3G mode for any of them

The removable cover is not as flexible as in older models, but unlike them, it has a pattern in the form of triangles, so it cannot be called completely featureless, although we would prefer rough plastic, as in the Galaxy S Duos.

Operating system and shell

The smartphone runs on the Android 4.1.2 operating system. The proprietary TouchWiz – Nature UX shell is installed on top of the standard interface. With the exception of the S-Pen settings, the Grand Duos interface is no different from the Galaxy Note II. You can read about the possibilities of the latter in the material.

Among the new things that we are encountering for the first time, we note the presence of a new switch in the notification panel responsible for activating multi-window mode (if the function is inactive, calling multi-window mode by holding the “Back” key does not work). The active SIM card switch is also located here.

A new item has been added to the SIM card manager that allows you to receive calls on the second SIM, if the first one is currently being used to access the Internet, but the data transfer will be interrupted. Otherwise, the second SIM will not be available. To be able to receive calls on two SIMs simultaneously, you need to set up call forwarding in the “Active Mode” menu. In it you can specify where calls will be redirected if any of the SIMs is “busy”. If you set up forwarding between cards installed in your smartphone, then when there is an incoming call, if you are already talking, a corresponding signal and a pop-up window will appear, where you will be asked to make a choice, hold the current call and accept the incoming one, or end the current call and answer the incoming one.

You cannot assign a default SIM for making calls and sending messages, only for data transfer. When dialing a number and in messages, there are always two icons - SIM 1, SIM 2. That is, in order to make a call from the SIM card installed in the first slot, you need to click on the SIM 1 icon.

Among other notable features of the Grand Duos interface, we note the presence of many types of vibration operation with the ability to create your own and a wide range of background screensavers for messages.

Hardware platform

The smartphone uses a system-on-chip Broadcom BCM28155. The chipset is made using 40nm technology and includes two Cortex-A9 processor cores capable of operating at a maximum clock frequency of 1.2 GHz, supporting NEON, a graphics core VideoCore IV And 1 GB LPDDR2 RAM(400 MHz).

According to benchmark results, system performance is at the level of Nvidia Tegra2, MTK6577T.

The Epic Citadel app displayed artifacts, although there were no image issues in the games we tested.

The smartphone allows you to play video up to Full HD resolution, and you don’t need to install third-party applications to watch it; the built-in player copes with this task well, and it is also one of the most advanced among the “standard” ones. Test videos AVI, MP4, MKV started and played without problems.
The conversational and multimedia speakers showed themselves to be good, both during conversations and calls. The sound in the headphones did not disappoint either; it is loud and will appeal to the vast majority of users.

The operating time of a smartphone is one of its strengths. The use of such a large display did not negatively affect battery life. The Antutu Tester application showed 4 hours or more than 700 points, which is equivalent to two days of work under average load or 6-7 hours with constant use of GPS. In reading mode, the smartphone will last 13 hours and 22 minutes, in player mode – 33 hours and 22 minutes.

Display

The smartphone display is clearly not the leader in terms of dots per inch, so those looking for a device with a Retina display will be disappointed. For me, a lover of high-quality screens, including high resolution and sharp images, the Grand Duos display did not cause any rejection. This does not mean that the pixels are invisible, on the contrary, they are visible even at a relatively large distance from the eyes, provided that you have good vision, but these same pixels do not spoil the impression of the device.

When looking at the screen diagonally from the lower right corner to the upper left, the colors lose some of their saturation, but there is no trace of the inversion typical of inexpensive TN matrices. The minimum brightness is 11.7 cd/m², the maximum is 347 cd/m², 50% on the scale corresponds to 202 cd/m², and with automatic adjustment in office lighting conditions the display shows 190 cd/m².

Camera

The quality of the main camera is traditionally good for Samsung; photos are sharp, with natural color reproduction. A ton of settings, including image stabilization, macro mode and many others, will allow you to choose the optimal settings to get the best shot. The most serious drawback of the camera is the lack of an HDR mode, but this fact is unlikely to deter you from buying a smartphone. The video quality is also excellent; while recording, you can specify the focus point by touching the screen.

Examples of 8 MP photos taken with a Samsung Galaxy Grand Duos smartphone

An example of Full HD video recording using a Samsung Galaxy Grand Duos smartphone

The front 2 MP camera copes with the assigned tasks perfectly; I was surprised that the maximum video resolution is limited to 720x480 pixels.

Results

The Samsung Galaxy Grand Duos smartphone is far from the first device with support for two SIM cards and a 5-inch screen; it also cannot be called affordable. Why was he able to impress us so much? Firstly, one of the most functional shells. Working with it, you understand that the manufacturer cares not only about how to sell the device, but also about how to make it as convenient as possible in everyday work. Secondly, multimedia capabilities - the capabilities of music and video players. Thirdly, cameras, both main and front. Fourthly, work time. For a smartphone with such a large display and two SIM cards, this is especially true. All this together makes the Samsung Galaxy Grand Duos the best dual-SIM smartphone with a 5-inch screen.

Notify when on sale

Following the fashion for smartphones with support for two SIM cards, manufacturers continue to introduce more and more new models to the market. Here is one of the latest representatives of this class, Samsung Galaxy Grand Duos, no more, no less, can boast of a 5-inch screen, a dual-core processor, a gigabyte of RAM, an 8 megapixel camera, etc.

In standby mode, the user has access to up to seven desktops. In order to remove or add them, you need to click the context button and select the “Change” item. After this you can work with desktops. In addition, there are “live” wallpapers.

In turn, the user can add additional program shortcuts, bookmarks or widgets to any of the desktops. To do this, just click the context button and select “Add”. In the future, individual programs can be grouped by meaning, for example, photos, videos and YouTube on one screen, and a calendar and notes on another. The speed of access to these services increases several times.

A long, continuous press on the top of the screen will activate the notification panel. It displays the current date, operator name and other supporting information. Here you can quickly enable functions such as Bluetooth, Wi-Fi, GPS, sound, auto-rotate.

The menu can be accessed by tapping the "Applications" option at the bottom right of the screen. The menu of the phone under test is presented by default with three screens that can be scrolled through. These are all different applications. Long pressing an application's shortcut will move it to the desktop. To remove a shortcut from the desktop, you need to do the opposite.

The smartphone has a number of pre-installed Samsung branded services - such as S Voice (voice search, duplicating Google search), S Memo (notes, quite nice), convenient and pleasant to use calendar S Planner, Chat On, Game Hub, Samsung Apps, manager “My Files” files, pre-installed Dropbox with its own Cloud service, which simplifies synchronization with Dropbox (although much easier), GroupPlay for sharing files and multimedia via Wi-Fi. In addition, the smartphone supports most of the gestures and movements available for and.

Telephone features

id="sub5">

First of all, these include “Phone”, “Contacts”, “Messages”. The first two points are nothing more than one application. It also has Call Log and Favorites.

“Contacts” stores detailed information about phone numbers and subscribers. A specific record can have two dozen fields, be it last name, first name, patronymic, mobile number, home phone number, email address, date of birth or personal ID, Skype, etc. The search in contacts occurs immediately across all fields of the client, that is, you can dial the number, first name, last name, etc.

During an incoming call, the screen displays a photo and number of the subscriber from the phone book, or, if the subscriber is unknown, a picture of a green man.

Text and multimedia messages are grouped by subscriber. By clicking on a specific contact, you can view the history of correspondence with this person.

Working with two SIM cards

id="sub6">

Switching between SIM cards is organized simply. In the top notification line, next to the battery charge icons, clock, Wi-Fi indicator and others, you can see an icon for a specific SIM card. They are marked with one or two. The active one is the one with which you make calls, send SMS and access the Internet.

You can select the active SIM card in the notification panel. To do this, you need to call it and click on one of the two images of the SIM card.

Both cards accept calls and SMS, but with certain features. The fact is that the Galaxy Grand Duos is equipped with only one radio module. But despite this, during a conversation from one SIM card, you will not lose calls from the second. With the “Active mode” option, which specifies the ability to receive calls during a conversation on a “free” SIM card, you can forward calls from an inactive card to an active one. This is quite convenient, although it is not always clear which SIM card you are using.

Perhaps some users would find it more convenient if the lists of received/sent calls and messages were divided into cards. But here, as in many other devices, everything is shown in one list, sorted by time. However, each message and call is marked with a one or two, depending on which card the call was made to or the SMS was sent to.

Multimedia capabilities

id="sub7">

The “Music” item is a music audio player. You can view and listen to audio tracks. The following file formats are supported: MP3, AMR, AAC, AAC+, e-AAC+. There is support for OMA DRM. There is sorting by artists, albums, genres, composers.

The standard headset is included in the package. Thanks to the 3.5 mm jack, you can choose any headphones.

The “Video” item displays videos made both by the device’s camera and downloaded from the Internet.

A unique thematic browser for photo and video files is the “Gallery” item. All files are divided into folders: photos and video clips, music.

In "Settings" each user can personalize the mobile phone interface. Almost all setup actions are concentrated in this menu item: GPRS, 3G, GPS, Wi-Fi, as well as data synchronization. In addition, settings for graphic themes, ringtones, display design, installed applications, and much more are also available here.

When talking about Samsung add-ons, one cannot fail to mention the Samsung Apps store. But there is a safety net in the form of Google Play, from which you can download and install thousands of applications.

In conclusion, let’s mention our own task manager (a useful thing, thank you - anyway, similar programs have to be installed on any Android smartphone so that it does not suffocate from a lack of hardware resources) and Polaris Office. The latter is an office suite that is no worse or better than the others: it reliably opens doc and docx, xls and xlsx, ppt and pptx files. In general, it does everything you need from a mobile office.

Camera. Photo and video capabilities

id="sub8">

Samsung Galaxy Grand Duos has an 8 megapixel camera with four times digital zoom. There is autofocus and LED flash. The following image resolutions are supported: 3264x2448, 3264x1836, 2048x1536, 2048x1232, 1600x1200, 1600x960, 800x480, 640x480 pixels. The volume buttons are responsible for zooming in/out of the image. Automatic contrast allows you to achieve relatively good quality images on a bright sunny day.

In manual mode, ISO settings are available at 50, 100, 200, 400, 800. The following shooting modes are available: single shot, smile detection, continuous, panorama, vintage, portrait, landscape, night mode, sports, indoor, beach/snow, sunset, dawn, autumn colors, fireworks, text, twilight, against the light.

The photos come out of good quality. Particularly successful photographs are obtained outdoors and in well-lit rooms.

The phone supports video recording in mpeg4 format for maximum resolution, and in the settings you can specify whether the video will be recorded with or without sound. All settings are comparable to those for photographs, but the video resolutions are different, plus effects are supported. The camera can shoot videos with Full HD resolution, 640x480 pixels. Two additional resolutions - 320x240 and 176x144 pixels. The recorded video is also of quite high quality.

Memory and speed

id="sub9">

The performance of Galaxy Grand Duos is at a high level. This can be seen from the very beginning of using the device. The smartphone runs on the Broadcom platform with a dual-core 1.2 GHz processor, VideoCore IV graphics and a gigabyte of RAM. The filling is rare and has not been seen in top models. Nevertheless, it performs well in applications, including FullHD playback.

In addition, there is a built-in memory of 4 GB. Naturally, there is a slot for a microSD memory card, the maximum capacity of which can be 32 GB.

Communication capabilities

id="sub10">

The smartphone can operate in 2G (850/900/1800/1900 MHz) and 3G (900/2100 MHz) cellular networks. At the same time, the speed of HSDPA is up to 21 Mbit/s, HSUPA - up to 5.76 Mbit/s. Bluetooth version 4.0 HS (A2DP, LE, EDR) is also available.

Samsung GT-I9082 Galaxy Grand Duosis a real hero in the world of modern smartphones. The 5" display alone is incredibly impressive. Also, the device can handle two SIM cards without any problems, shows excellent performance, and the affordable price adds a few more bonuses to this device.

The smartphone has a nice appearance, which is almost similar to the design that the Galaxy S III had. On the front panel there is the inscription “Duos”, which immediately informs that the giant supports working with two cards. The device cannot be called very great, because Samsung has also produced larger models. After just a few days of using the “grand” device, you begin to get used to the large screen, and the gadget itself seems convenient and compact.

The smartphone control buttons are in the same familiar places as before. For example, the home button is located under the screen, and it practically “sank” inside the case. On the sides of the “main” button there are two more: “context menu” and “back”. The headphone jack and Micro-USB port are located, respectively, on the top and bottom ends of the gadget. The button for turning on and unlocking is on the right, and the volume rocker is on the left. The back of the smartphone also does not contain any surprises. It houses the LED flash, main camera and speaker grille.

The gadget has a large display, but the manufacturer did not take care of the same resolution and, as a result, it is only 480 by 800 pixels. At the same time, the pixel density is quite high and equal to 187 ppi. But even so, the image looks sharp, and only upon closer inspection can you notice the pixelation. This fact is not critical and the user will not feel discomfort when viewing photos, videos, as well as when reading books and typing text. In general, the following can be said about the display: wide viewing angles, automatic backlight adjustment, excellent brightness, scratch protection.

The Samsung GT-I9082 smartphone has two cameras at its disposal. The main camera is eight megapixels and has an LED flash. The two megapixel front camera is enough for both video calls and photography. The main camera also has functions that allow you to adjust the focus, both automatically and independently. The photos taken with the main camera come out really high quality. They have excellent clarity, color rendition, and brightness. Smartphone owners will also be pleased with the ability to record and play video in Full HD resolution. The captured video has a very smooth picture, as well as the absence of noise and distortion.

The hardware of this device is also quite powerful. It uses a Broadcom BCM28155 chip and a dual-core ARM Cortex A9 processor (1.2 GHz), as well as a VideoCore IV graphics processor. All this taken together allows the smartphone to easily cope with all the tasks that will be assigned to it during the day. 1 GB of RAM is enough for the gadget to work without freezing when several programs are running. The gadget's internal memory is only 8 GB, of which only 4 GB is allocated to the user. Therefore, it is worth taking care of purchasing an additional memory card. The device is equipped with Android 4.1.2 (Jelly Bean), standard for such smartphones. Samsung Grand is equipped with a battery that has a capacity of 2100 mAh. If you use all the functions of a smartphone within reasonable limits, the phone will last for about one or two days.

At the end of the review, it should be said that this device is an excellent model with a large five-inch screen and support for two SIM cards. But this is not the only strength of the Samsung gadget. The device has an excellent main camera that allows you to take pictures and shoot videos in Full-HD format.
