Excellent screen! I purchased a matte protective film to keep the screen intact. IOS is simply gorgeous. As an Iphone owner, I had no problems mastering the system. And everything will be clear to beginners! The performance of the system is at the highest level (everything is smooth, pleasant). Very convenient AppStore (everything is divided into categories and it won’t be difficult to find what you need). There are just a lot of applications, useful programs and games! Many of them are free, and if they are paid, then most of them cost their money. I don’t recommend doing Jail, since the warranty will expire. In general, the price for this device suits me, but I would like a little cheaper :) The battery holds a charge for quite a long time. Very good screen, one of the best I've seen on a tablet. Bright, clear, contrasting, low glare, excellent colors. Perhaps only the AMOLED on the Galaxy Tab 7.7 feels better, but it has a smaller size and resolution. A very well made item, the assembly is perfect, it works very stably, without brakes or glitches. There are excellent applications that have no analogues on other platforms yet. Personally, I liked the Kiosk, through which you can subscribe and read many very well-designed magazines. The browser works well, loads pages quickly, scrolling and zooming are smooth. Only IE10 is better than it for tablets with powerful Windows 8 processors - Microsoft Surface Pro or Acer W700. But such tablets weigh much more and run on battery power much less.

Thus, the release of the iPad 3 model was marked by the appearance of the newest Retina display, which at that time was distinguished by incredible image quality. I wonder what the developers have pleased with the new iPad 4 model?
The appearance of the gadget has remained virtually unchanged, which has significantly pleased fans of the Apple brand. After all, according to experts, the iPad 3 body was considered the most optimal.
The only external difference from the previous model was a smaller Lightning system connector, replacing the traditional 30-pin dock connector.
The dimensions of the tablet, as before, are 241.2 × 185.7 × 9.4 mm with a weight of 652-662 g (depending on the presence of a cellular communication module). Maybe some users expected the new model to be more miniature, but let’s remember about the increased capacity battery, which mainly affects the thickness of the device.
The front panel of the tablet is covered with protective glass with an oleophobic coating, which reliably protects the display from accidental impacts and scratches. The lens of the new 1.2-megapixel front camera is mounted above the screen, and below it, as before, there is a hardware “Home” key. Apple developers deliberately left the edge of the matrix wide enough, which makes it possible to comfortably hold the case without touching the touch screen with your fingers.
The back panel is made of anodized aluminum, which, together with the smoothly beveled side edges, forms a single piece. At its upper end there is a power button, a headphone jack (3.5 mm) and a black mobile antenna cover. The main camera lens is built next to it. There is a built-in speaker and Lightning connector at the bottom of the back panel.
On the left side of the case there is a Micro-SIM slot (relevant for models with 4G), on the right there is a rocker key for adjusting the volume and a “Mute” slider, which also blocks automatic image orientation.
Screen
The Apple iPad 4 tablet, like the previous model, uses a Retina display with a resolution of 2048×1536. With a screen diagonal of 9.7 inches, the pixel density is 264 PPI, which makes the image on the screen more like a page from a glossy magazine. The pixels are completely indistinguishable, so the reality of the image is simply stunning. This time the developers made the right choice. Why look for other solutions if this display is considered the best among all 10-inch tablets. The only drawback is the lack of anti-reflective coating, which has been much discussed by users of Apple gadgets.
The IPS matrix is made using the same technology, therefore it combines natural colors and maximum viewing angles. Its quality is especially noticeable when compared with previous generations of displays. The positioning of the capacitive sensor has become more accurate and, in addition, it has a warm color gamut with improved image detail.
Speed and functionality
If we talk about the main differences between the iPad 4 and iPad 3 models, they relate more to their filling. The new tablet uses a processor with a clock frequency of 1.4 GHz – Apple A6X. The graphics coprocessor used is a quad-core PowerVR SGX 554MP4 with performance up to 76.8 GFLOPS. An interesting fact is that the leading Android models contain up to 17 cores in the graphics system. Despite this, their performance is several times inferior to Apple tablets. 
A new solution was the placement of RAM. It is located outside the processor chip and is implemented on two chips of 512 MB each, that is, the total capacity is 1 GB.
Permanent or flash memory is installed with a capacity of 16, 32 or 64 GB. For the model released in January 2013, it is 128 GB.
There are three options for communication units for the new tablet. Two of them can be used to transmit data via 2G/3G/4G cellular communications, but cannot work in our CDMA/EVDO networks and do not support domestic LTE frequencies.
Camera
The iPad 3 tablet used an outdated 0.3 MP VGA model as a front camera. In the iPad 4 model, the front camera has a resolution of 1.2 megapixels and supports recording videos in 720p HD quality. Of course, it, like the previous one, is designed only for communication via FaceTime, but the picture quality has become much better.
The main iSight camera has not undergone any changes. It also has a resolution of 5 megapixels and supports shooting HD videos at 1080p/30 fps with image stabilization. At the same time, high definition is supported, color rendition is close to real, autofocus, tap focusing and a face detection function. 
Nutrition
The new Retina display and hardware capable of supporting high-resolution graphics have led to increased power consumption. This also forced developers to significantly increase the battery capacity of the iPad 3.
Like its predecessor, the iPad 4 has a 3.7V 11560mAh (43 Wh) lithium-polymer battery, which is only 0.6 mm thicker than 25 Wh batteries. This innovation still keeps Apple tablets among the leaders in terms of battery life.
See for yourself, on a single charge, the iPad 4 tablet allows you to watch videos for up to 10 hours, listen to music or audiobooks for 140 hours, or stay in a standby state for a whole month. It is difficult to find similar indicators among other models, given the quality of graphics and system performance.
As mentioned at the beginning of the article, the tablet uses a miniature 8-pin Lightning interface, which is almost 80% smaller than the outdated 30-pin one. Now the connector is completely reversible, so you don’t have to worry about inserting it the wrong way around.

One of the most unexpected, but at the same time technically understandable releases from Apple was the release of the 4th generation iPad. It was released in the same year as the 3rd gadget. Its announcement took place simultaneously with the announcement of the “iPad mini”. This is not the same as the “iPad mini 4”, the characteristics of which are much higher. The device received several small updates “under the hood” and a minimum of visual changes.
“iPad” 4: characteristics of the device’s appearance, general impression, design
When you first pick up the 4th generation iPad, only one thought comes to mind: “Is this an iPad 3?” This feeling remains until it comes to the performance of the gadget. A more powerful filling makes itself felt, moreover, with each update the difference becomes more noticeable.
The only visual difference of the new product was the new port - Lightning, which replaced the 30-pin input. Otherwise, it's the same unibody aluminum body with a black glass apple on the back and stereo speakers on the bottom side.

Display
One of the distinctive features of Apple gadgets is a display with double resolution, which is exactly what the iPad 4 “Retina” is equipped with. The display characteristics are the same. The resolution is 2048 by 1536 pixels (3.1 million pixels, which gives 264 pixels per inch). At this resolution, the human eye is unable to discern an individual pixel. You can talk endlessly about the “Retina” display, but all this is in vain, because it’s better to look at it for yourself once and everything will immediately become clear - you will never return to a regular screen. Color rendition is at a fairly high level. The display is also anti-glare and (allows you to easily remove fingerprints from the screen). Despite the fact that there is an air gap between the display module and the protective glass, there is practically no glare in the sun (at maximum brightness).
CPU
This model, unlike the iPhone 5 released a little earlier, received not the usual A6 chip, but its modified version A6X. Its difference from its “younger brother” is the presence of a quad-core graphics system in the kit. The processor itself is equipped with two cores, each of which has a clock frequency of 1400 MHz. This chip supports 3G networks, but unlike the iPhone 5, it will not work with LTE. At the time of its release, the tablet boasted extremely high performance and could cope with any task with ease; now Apple has somewhat limited the functionality of the device, but nevertheless allows all owners to update to the latest version of the operating system - iOS 10.
The tablet conquered all the main synthetic tests without any problems: the Geekbench benchmark, for example, showed a result of 1783 points. The SunSpider test passed with a performance rating of 900 milliseconds. T-Rex surprised me with a fairly high 12 FPS.
Memory
The tablet is equipped with one gigabyte of RAM, which in the case of Apple devices is quite a lot, since the system manages it wisely and does not allow leaks. The user does not have to worry about his tabs in the browser and does not have to worry that if he switches from one program to another, they will begin to reload or close involuntarily. There is quite a lot of permanent memory, its volume can reach 128 gigabytes, which is an excellent indicator even today. This amount of memory is enough for your head. Separately, it is worth noting the fact that the model range includes “iPad 4” 16 GB. Features like these can now become a problem as the weight of content, apps and games continues to grow. All of it is unlikely to fit on a 16 GB disk. Models with 64, and especially 128 gigabytes, are unreasonably expensive. If you are not going to upload tons of movies, the best option would be “iPad 4” 32 GB. The characteristics are at the same level, there is enough space, the price is lower.
Battery
The battery capacity was 11560 milliamp hours. How much is this in time equivalent? Everything is simple here, Apple has a standard that the company has supported since the release of its first tablet. All iPads operate strictly for 10 hours at optimal load, so there is no point in going into the specifications. The disadvantage of such a long operating time on a single charge is the long accumulation of this same charge; from 0 to 100 the gadget is charged in about 6 hours, which means you have to put the tablet on the socket for the whole night. “iPad 4” is equipped with a special larger and more powerful (12 W) power supply and cannot be recharged using a regular computer or laptop, which caused dissatisfaction among some users.
Camera
Who needs a camera on a tablet anyway? For a couple of years, everyone was asking this question, and people filming on a tablet computer looked ridiculous, out of this world. Over time, this stereotype, like many others, left us, and tablets began to be equipped with increasingly better cameras. This is exactly what “iPad 4” deserved. Rear camera features: 5 megapixels, autofocus, HD video recording. The camera turned out to be “decent”. It’s impossible to say that the photos are gorgeous, but it’s not really worth blaming either, since the photographs are quite “on the level”. It is also worth noting that the tablet got its camera module from the iPhone 4, but this phone did not have the additional LED flash that is available in the iPad 4. Features 1.2 megapixels, autofocus, face detection, VGA video recording and Photo Booth support. Selfie lovers responded well to the camera.
Bottom line
This gadget has to be compared with its closest relative, the 3rd generation iPad, which at one time made a lot of noise, being a truly revolutionary device. No one on the market could imagine even a close analogue; Apple was in the lead. Against the background of such events, the release of “iPad 4” looks very strange and boring. The characteristics of the device turned out to be very modest, there are not many changes, little things have been added everywhere. The main reason for the update was the Lightning cable: fast, safe, practical. Apparently, the desire to quickly get rid of the outdated 30-pin cable led Apple to announce a new tablet so quickly.
Nevertheless, people received the new tablet quite warmly; many purchased it to replace a second-generation or even third-generation device. Unlike the iPad 3, which received a lot of angry reviews for overheating and rapid discharge, the “four” avoided such comments, since Apple did quite serious work on the bugs.
Apple decided to set a record this year by releasing three tablets at once - iPad 4, iPad Mini and iPad 3. And November became a month of double release for fans of the American company's products.
Let us immediately note that the new iPad has not received any serious modernization: it has a camera, display and design from the previous generation of tablets, and among the innovations we note - a chipset, a Lightning port, and a front-facing HD camera. Overall, this tablet is similar to the iPad 3 released in March, with a best-in-class Retina display plus a welcome boost of processing power. In addition, the new Lightning port will provide full compatibility with 5, which is very popular.
iPad 4 is not much different in appearance from iPad 3, that is, it is practically its clone. The small difference is the new Lightning port. Otherwise the tablets are identical.
The Retina display occupies almost the entire front surface of the device, above it is the front camera, and below it is the Home button. On the back side you can find the main camera and the device logo.
The aluminum body is, as always, elegant. In general, the tablet is very convenient to use. The assembly was done perfectly - no extraneous creaks or backlashes during operation.
The dimensions of the device are 241.2x185.7x9.4 mm, and the weight is 652 g. (662 g for the LTE version of the device).
Performance and Software
iPad 4 is based on a 2-core Apple A6X SoC clocked at 1.4 GHz, a 4-core PowerVR SGX554MP4 graphics chip and 1 GB of RAM. Thus, the new tablet has a more powerful processor than the iPad3, which, naturally, will allow it to easily work with the latest resource-intensive games with spectacular graphics. The device operates under the iOS 6 operating system.
Below we present several so-called synthetic tests that allow you to evaluate the characteristics of the new gadget.
And so, let's start with the Geekbench 2 test, in which our test subject was inferior to the Galaxy S III smartphone, but outperformed the 7- and 4-core Optimus G.
In the GLBenchmark 2.5 off-screen test, you can see a huge gap between the new graphics processor and the chips that were used in older Apple models, including the iPad Mini. Also, the iPad 4 is significantly ahead of the new Adreno 320 in the LG Optimus G.
In the GLBenchmark 2.5 on-screen test, graphics are reproduced in the “native” display resolution, and not in Full HD resolution, as in the GLBenchmark 2.5 off-screen test. Even though the Retina display has a higher resolution, the new tablet is still a winner.
Browser performance tests also confirmed the emerging trend. iPad 4 received top scores in JavaScript and plain HTML 5 performance tests.
Depending on the modification, the tablet has 16, 32 or 64 GB of permanent memory, which, like other Apple products, cannot be expanded using cards.
The device supports Wi-Fi, which is capable of delivering up to 150 Mbps, Bluetooth 4.0 + A2DP, GPS/A-GPS and 3G networks and LTE networks (depending on modification). But we note that LTE networks will not work in Russia, since communication standards do not match.
The gadget has Lightning and USB 2.0 ports.
The tablet comes pre-installed with the following software: browser, email client, audio and video players, integration with some social services (Twitter, Facebook, etc.), organizer and some other games and programs.
Screen
The tablet computer is equipped with a 9.7-inch touchscreen LED-backlit TFT Retina display with a resolution of 2048x1536 pixels (density 264 ppi) and color rendering of 16 million shades.
The screen is similar to that used in the iPad 3, so the image quality remains at the same high level - beautiful, natural colors, clear images, excellent sensitivity.
Camera
iPad 4 is equipped with a 5-megapixel main camera, which allows you to take photos with a maximum resolution of 2592x1944 pixels, with autofocus and geo-tagging functions, but without an LED flash. Photos taken with the tablet turn out very good for a 5-megapixel camera - natural colors, good clarity. Examples of photos can be seen below.
The camera allows you to record video in Full HD format at a frame rate of 30 per second. The video bitrate is about 18 Mbps, and for audio it is 65Kbps with a sampling frequency of 44 kHz for mono.

The iPad 4 has a 1.2-megapixel front-facing camera that can capture HD video for video calling.
Battery
The gadget received a lithium-polymer battery with a capacity of 11560 mAh, which, according to the manufacturer, should be enough for 9 hours of battery life when using 3G communications and 720 hours of standby time. It takes about 6 hours to charge the device, which is achieved thanks to the increased power, since the iPad 3 took more than 7 hours to charge the battery.
Price
The cost of iPad 4 on the Russian market has not yet been announced. The price in the USA is as follows: $499 for the Wi-Fi only model and $629 for the model with support for LTE networks.
