Android Pay does not work on xiaomi mi6. What should I do if my smartphone says “Google Pay is not supported on this device”? Which cards and banks work with Android Pay technology

Allowing contactless payments. But before the owners of Android smartphones had time to rejoice at the new possibilities, many of them were faced with a problem. The application was successfully installed on the device, but when I tried to launch it, the smartphone displayed the following message: “Google Pay is not supported on this device. We were unable to verify that your device meets the security standards set for Google Pay. The reason may be that it has root access configured, the operating system bootloader is unlocked, or a non-original ROM is installed.”

Interestingly, as usual, those who suffered were those who prefer to have not just a phone for communication, but a convenient and productive tool for solving various kinds of everyday tasks. As you probably already guessed, these are those who received Root rights to their smartphone and installed modified firmware with high-quality translation into Russian, while unlocking the bootloader (check out). What’s even more interesting is that, for example, for Xiaomi smartphones, even the official weekly build for devices of this popular brand does not pass verification in Google Pay - the application only agrees to work with stable versions of MIUI, which are updated every few months.

We already dealt with a similar problem a year and a half ago, and then we were able to help users bypass the security requirements of the mobile version of the “ ” service. Google Pay's security mechanisms turned out to be approximately identical. But (we repeat) a year and a half has passed, and today, thanks to the efforts of those most advanced and inquisitive users, a program called “ Magisk - The Universal Systemless Interface", allowing you to get the desired result easier and faster - without giving up superuser rights and installing patched versions of the software. Installing this program makes it possible to fully use the Google Pay service on smartphones with Root rights, an unlocked bootloader and custom firmware.

How to use Magisk?

The main condition for using Magisk is its availability own Root rights(MagiskSU) or officially non-system SuperSU. In any other case, Magisk will try to remove third-party root and install MagiskSU by default.

Solving the problem with Google Pay:

** If you do not want to install Magisk and other third-party software, there is an easier way to hide Root rights and/or unlocked bootloader from Google Pay: you need to replace two lines (manufacturer name and smartphone model) in the build.prop file(for example, using

September 2015: Google launches its own contactless payment system, Android Pay. Russia is one of those countries where this technology is supported. It's 2018 and Google is rebranding. Now the company's own payment system is called Google Pay or even shorter: G Pay.

So, it’s high time to tell you how to set up Android Pay on a Xiaomi smartphone. Unfortunately, it is immediately necessary to warn owners of Xiaomi smart phones - not all of them have access to this technology. The following will describe why this happens.

The necessary conditions

The main and necessary condition for using Android Pay technology on a smartphone is the presence of an NFC module, designed primarily for making contactless payments, as well as official firmware with an Android version of at least 4.4, without the activated ability to use root user rights.

  • If there is no NFC module, further study of the information will only broaden your horizons, but downloading and installing the application is pointless;
  • It’s worth thinking about buying a more modern gadget;
  • You need to decide what is more important: a smartphone with root rights or the ability to use a modern payment system.

Such stringent requirements for the phone and operating system settings are justified by the fact that we are talking about your money, and the company is worried about their safety.

Life hack for hackers, as well as for those who are not afraid to experiment with their phone. You can install the Magisk utility, which allows you to “not show” Android Pay open access to system administrator rights...

Typically, a password set to lock the smartphone screen, a locked bootloader and the absence of root rights for the phone can guarantee the integrity of personal data and its inaccessibility to an attacker. Finding out whether a Xiaomi smartphone supports Android Pay is very easy.

Smartphones with NFC support

Below is a list of Xiaomi smartphones on which Google Pay will work:

  • Mi 2A
  • Mi 5, Mi 5S, Mi 5S Plus
  • Mi Note 2
  • Mi MIX, Mi Mix 2, Mi Mix 2S

As you can see, there are no Redmi models, unfortunately.

Banks working with Android Pay

In addition to the need for an NFC module, the payment system must also be supported by the bank itself that services your card.

VISA and MasterCard are suitable for payment; MIR format cards are not yet supported.

The list of banks working with the Google payment system is as follows:

  • Sberbank
  • Alfa Bank
  • Raiffeisenbank
  • Bank opening"
  • Dot
  • Tinkoff
  • Rosselkhozbank
  • Binbank
  • Russian standard
  • Promsvyazbank
  • "AK Bars" Bank
  • MTS Bank
  • Yandex money

This list is not final and most likely has ceased to be relevant. Therefore, if you do not find your bank in the list, call the hotline, perhaps it already supports G Pay.

Software installation and configuration

Installation

First you need to download the application of the same name from the Play Market. Don't forget that today it is Google Pay (G Pay).

Next, on Xiaomi smart phones you need to move a couple of “sliders” in the settings. So, we find the menu: “settings” - section “wireless networks” - “more” (additional functions), “NFC”. After this, look for the item “location of security element”. Here you need to select the “use HCE Wallet” option.

It would be a good idea to check whether the newly installed application is configured to autostart.

At this point, the software installation can be considered complete. The next step is setup.

Settings

Setting up Android Pay involves entering information about available payment cards. So, let's launch the application. Now the program will ask for information about the Google account that you plan to use. If the operating system database contains information about only one account, it will be used by default. From the account data, the program receives information about the payment card, and during registration it requests the cvv code of the payment card as confirmation. If, when registering a Google account, your bank card details were not entered into the system, it’s time to do it now!

Click the “+” icon in the lower right corner and indicate “add a debit or credit bank card.” Now you can either scan the card using the built-in camera, or enter the data manually (correctly and without errors!).

Attention! To register, you will need to enter the cvv code of the card. In this case, it is a reasonable necessity.

To complete registration, you may need to enter a code from an SMS message from the cardholder bank.

Next, 30 rubles will be debited from the bank card account, which will be returned back to the account after some time. This is also a necessary authorization procedure; a similar mechanism is used in many global payment systems.

In exactly the same way, you can “link” other bank cards to G Pay and select them, as needed, to make payments.

After all the above manipulations, your smartphone received the function of making contactless payments in stores, subways and other public places - naturally, where the appropriate terminal is installed.

Brief manual

The first question after installing and configuring Android Pay is how to use the program. This is not at all difficult, but you need to consider the following circumstances:

  • You can pay only where there is a terminal of the appropriate type. In principle, now they are everywhere - in almost every supermarket, as well as in the subway. But still... every rule is confirmed by an exception. Therefore, it is possible that the seller’s terminal does not support contactless payment or does not work correctly. Now, in most cases, there are certain stickers at the checkout counters with the logo of supported payment systems;

  • If the program database contains data from two or more cards, one of them must be specified as the main one. By default, payment will be made from this card. Or - you need to select the desired card, and only then bring the device to the terminal;
  • Of course, you first need to unlock your smartphone, and only then bring it to the terminal. Of course, you may need to enter a PIN code, depending on the terminal settings and the requirements of the bank that issued the card. All these are basic rules for using the contactless payment system, but it was necessary to remind them!

This information is enough to start using G Pay.

If something went wrong...

It happens that there is no doubt whether Xiaomi supports Android Pay. In addition, the program was successfully installed, the payment card details were entered, but for some reason the payment did not occur. In such a situation, we check the following, literally point by point:

Permissions

Go to the OS settings, look for the “security” section. Next, select the menu items: “permissions”, then other “permissions”. Here you need to enable all the sliders for the G Pay app.

Battery

We find the settings in the “Battery and Performance” section and remove all restrictions for the program we need.

Another possible malfunction in the application is that the payment amount exceeds 1000 rubles. Such payments are not yet processed through the payment system.GPay.

If all the comments are taken into account, we try again to bring the gadget to the terminal and make a payment.

However, given everything that was said earlier, you should not rely entirely on the contactless payment function in your smartphone. This technology has not yet become widespread and it is always necessary to secure yourself with cash or a bank card.

Security and privacy

In conclusion, a few words about the protection of information and personal data. According to the Google team, the Google Pay system does not transmit real payment card data when making a payment. The transaction uses temporary virtual card data, which, even if it gets to the attacker, will not help him in any way.

Contactless payment systems are becoming increasingly popular. This does not require statistical research, because the conclusion suggests itself when you see the news that another major manufacturer of portable equipment has launched its own version of the payment system. However, the most popular by far is Android Pay.

Contactless payments from Google are a convenient system that allows you to pay for purchases in stores and supermarkets by simply touching your smartphone to the payment terminal. Yes, everything works exactly the same as with contactless plastic payment cards.

The platform has many advantages:

  • a wallet, purse or handbag is freed from a pile of plastic cards;
  • a smartphone replaces cards from several banks at once, and you can select an account for payment directly during a financial transaction;
  • payment occurs much faster compared to a similar procedure carried out using a bank card;
  • increased security, in which all transactions are confirmed using a fingerprint or PIN code.

True, the technology is not available to everyone - the smartphone must meet the following requirements:

  • – if it is not there, you don’t have to read further, since the service simply will not work on such a device;
  • OS version no lower than Android 4.4 KitKat;
  • official, unmodified firmware, with Root access disabled;
  • The bootloader is intact and there have been no attempts to unlock it.

If everything is in order, to start using the service, all that remains is to install the Google Wallet application or a similar one approved by Google.

Xiaomi smartphones supporting Android Pay technology

The leader of the Chinese technology market did not stand aside and released its version of the Mi Pay payment system. True, this type of contactless payments has not yet gained wide popularity in our country from the word “at all.” What to do? Install Android Pay on your Xiaomi, and we will tell you how to do it.

First of all, you need to familiarize yourself with the list of Xiaomi devices equipped with an NFC module and find yours among them:

  • Mi 2A;
  • Mi 3;
  • Mi 5;
  • Mi 5S;
  • Mi 5S Plus;
  • Mi 6;
  • Mi Note 2;
  • Mi Mix;
  • Mi Mix 2.

As you can see, only owners of the flagships of the Mi line will be able to use the Android Pay service, but representatives of the budget Redmi series cannot boast of the necessary module and remain out of work.

Setting up a smartphone and linking a card

Xiaomi initially does not want to work with the Android Pay system, so setting up the smartphone includes a preliminary settings step so that the system works stably and without interruptions.

Preparatory stage

Preparing your Xiaomi to work with the payment system has several nuances. Before launching the application, you need to activate several items in the device settings that are disabled by default for your own safety.

We enter the device settings section and find the “More” item in the “Wireless networks” section. Scroll the list to the very bottom to the “NFC” section. Here, firstly, you need to enable the module itself, and secondly, in the “Security element location” subsection, switch from “Built-in security element” to “Use HCE Wallet”. It should be noted that depending on the localization, the last subsection may be called “Default Wallet”.

Considering the features of MIUI OS and its love of unloading non-system applications from memory, we recommend adding the Android Pay application to the startup list.

To do this, find the “Security” application on the desktop, go to the “Permissions” section, the “Autorun” subsection. In the list we find the Android Pay application and put a tick in front of it.

Setting up the application

Actually, all the application settings come down to linking your cards. Today, Android Pay is supported by the following banks and payment systems:

  • Sberbank;
  • Alfa Bank;
  • Tinkoff Bank;
  • Raiffeisenbank;
  • MTS Bank;
  • "VTB 24";
  • Bank opening";
  • "AK Bars";
  • Binbank;
  • Promsvyazbank;
  • Rosselkhozbank;
  • "Yandex money".

Accordingly, in order to take advantage, you need to be a client of one of the banks presented in the list and have a Visa or MasterCard card. Both debit and credit cards are supported.

The current list of banks that allow you to use the wireless payment service in Russia is presented on the official Visa website.

Linking a card is done in just a couple of steps:

  1. We launch the Android Pay application, give it all the required permissions upon request.
  2. In the lower right corner, click on the “+” icon and take a photo of the map. We check whether the data from the front of the card was read correctly.
  3. If scanning does not occur or is carried out with errors, you need to enter all the data manually.
  4. After confirmation and receipt of an automatic SMS from the bank with a verification code, an amount of 30 rubles will be withdrawn from the card account. After some time, the money will be returned. This is a verification operation necessary to test the normal flow of all financial transactions.

The application settings indicate the card used by default for all payments. Therefore, if you need to make a payment from another card, it must first be marked as the main one.

Important! The application will require you to install one of the secure unlocking options, be it a fingerprint or a pattern. Therefore, if the corresponding proposal has not been received from the system, you need to perform this step manually.

If everything is done correctly, you can proceed to testing the system in action.

How to use?

The process of using the Android Pay platform is extremely simple and is divided into two options:

  1. Purchase of goods worth up to 1000 rubles. You just need to unlock the device, touch it to the terminal or swipe it next to it, and the payment will be made. Accordingly, purchases of small amounts are carried out instantly.
  2. Purchases over 1000 rubles. When paying for more expensive goods, you will have to additionally confirm the transaction in the application itself or enter the card PIN code in the terminal.

In addition to financial transactions directly in stores, Android Pay can be used to pay for purchases online.

What to do if Android Pay doesn't work?

The main problem why your Xiaomi is capricious and does not want to pay for purchases using a contactless method is the incorrect preparatory stage.

Before the security guard confiscates what you have collected at the checkout, quickly go through the settings indicated above. NFC must be enabled and HCE Wallet must be specified as the primary wallet used.

It is possible that MIUI considered the wallet management application to be clogging up the RAM and unloaded it, so you can try to restart the application.

Very often, Xiaomi users complain that the application simply refuses to launch and states “Android Pay is not supported on this device.” And this happens even on smartphones without outside intervention from the user. It turns out that the device may not be verified by Google if the official firmware is installed, but not the global one. That is, if you are using the latest beta version of MIUI 9, Android Pay will refuse to work and you will have to either install the global version of the firmware or use plastic cards the old fashioned way.

Conclusion

No matter how convenient the platform is, system stability is sometimes still poor. Therefore, for the first time after installing and setting up the application, do not bother to carry your main plastic card or some cash with you, so as not to get into an unpleasant situation when your smartphone becomes capricious and does not confirm the payment.

Perhaps the number 1 event of this week, and perhaps of the whole year, can safely be considered the launch in Russia of the Android Pay payment system from the search giant Google. Until May 23, the opportunity to pay for purchases using a mobile phone was available only to a select group - users of iPhone smartphones, as well as premium devices from Samsung. Thus, the arrival of a new payment system will allow the introduction of such a modern payment method to the masses, since the share of owners of smartphones with Android OS is currently more than 70%.

The use of such payment systems is considered a safer payment method than traditional card payment. Since during the transaction your card number is not transmitted, but the virtual account number is used. However, after the advent of Android Pay, many Xiaomi smartphone users began to complain about the inability to pay using their mobile phone. This problem is primarily due to the fact that not all the necessary settings have been made. Well, let's figure out how to configure a Xiaomi smartphone for the correct operation of the Google payment system.

I would like to immediately note that Android Pay requires official stable firmware without root rights, as well as a locked bootloader. Otherwise, you will not be able to pass the SafetyNet check and the application will not launch. Of course, there is a workaround, but this will be discussed separately.

Download and install the official Android Pay application from Google Play Market.

After installation, launch the application and add a map. If you previously had a card linked to your Google account, you will see it the first time you launch Android Pay. You just need to indicate the CVV code and payment address. If you successfully add a card, 30 ₽ will be debited from your account, which will be returned a little later. In Android Pay, you can add several cards, and at the time of payment, choose the one from which to write off.

Now let's move on to the smartphone settings. Since data transfer is carried out via NFC, in the additional settings of Wireless networks, turn on the corresponding switch and select Wallet HCE in the Security element location item.

Also, in the One-touch payment section, you need to select the Default payment method Android Pay application, and in Using the default application, set Always.

After the settings, you can safely go to the store for field testing.

Android Pay will work with all terminals that support Mastercard PayPass and Visa payWave contactless payments.

And finally, a life hack. If you are still unable to set up your smartphone or there is no hardware support for NFC, then you can simply hide the card under the case and make payments as usual. At the same time, in the eyes of others, you will be as advanced as the owners of expensive smartphones.

For a couple of weeks now, a payment system from Google under the laconic name Android Pay has been operating in Russia. Many users often ask us how to set it up and use it on . Let's take a look and answer the most frequently asked questions.

A little history

Android Pay was launched in September 2015 worldwide, Russia became the 11th country where the service began operating. Android Pay is a contactless payment system. Using it, you can link a regular bank card to the application and pay for purchases and services using a smartphone or smartwatch. In simple terms, Android Pay turns your smartphone into a bank card and allows you to touch it to payment terminals instead of a heap of bank cards. Moreover, Android Pay does not charge any commission at all.

Which Xiaomi phones work with Android Pay?

Android Pay will only work on Xiaomi smartphones with an NFC chip that are running a green robot no older than version 4.4, or better yet newer - 5, 6, and 7. Among Xiaomi phones these are: Mi 2A, Mi 3, . There is an important condition: the mi-smartphone must have official firmware from the company installed, there must be no Root rights and the bootloader must be locked. Typically, these actions are performed when changing the firmware.

A nuance on Xiaomi smartphones

In order for payment via NFC to work correctly on Xiaomi devices, you need to check a couple of boxes in the settings. They are disabled by default for security reasons.

Go to Settings → go to the More tab in the Wireless & Networks panel → scroll down to the NFC section and check the NFC box → click on Security Element Location and select Use HCE Wallet. To be on the safe side, you can put the Android Pay app in Startup. That's all, now your Mi smartphone is completely ready to pay for purchases.

How to connect a card to Android Pay?

To start using Android Pay, just download the application of the same name from the Play Store. Here link on him. And then everything is extremely simple, the application itself will tell you what to do.

When you first launch Android Pay, it will logically offer to connect a card - to do this, you need to point the camera at it so that the service reads the number and expiration date. You can also enter information manually the old-fashioned way. You will also need the CVV code on the back of the card and the user's address. When connecting the card, the bank will send a verification code to confirm the operation. Nothing unusual.

If you have already connected cards to your Google account, for example, to purchase applications on the Play Store or subscribe to Google Play Music, then Android Pay will offer to use one of them - to link to the application you will only need to enter the CVV code.

What about the protection?

This is one of the most important questions. Google guarantees that payments via Android Pay do not use information about cards connected to the service. In the system, virtual copies are created for them, the data of which is transferred to the seller, while the data of real cards is stored on Google servers.

When you launch Android Pay for the first time, you will need to set up a phone lock if you didn't have one before. Pattern, fingerprint or PIN code, it doesn’t matter. If you remove the protection, then the data from the Android Pay application will be deleted. In addition, the data will be deleted after 90 days of inactivity of the phone.

How and where to pay with Android Pay?

Payment via Android Pay is available almost everywhere where there are terminals that support contactless payments (including through cards with PayPass and PayWave technologies). In Russia these are almost all supermarkets and shopping centers.

To make a payment via NFC, you need to unlock (wake up) your smartphone and bring it to the terminal for a few seconds until a payment message and an image of the card appear on the screen. Of course, in some cases the cashier may ask you to enter a PIN code or sign a receipt. This depends on the settings of the bank that issued the card and the terminal.

If you have connected several cards, then one of them will need to be selected as standard. To pay with another card, you need to open the application and select the desired card.

You can pay using Android Pay and on some mobile apps and websites. In such cases, the “Pay via Android Pay” button will appear on the payment page.
