Samsung "Moisture Detected" Notification - What to Do? Moisture protection of Galaxy S8 and S8 Plus - pros and cons of technology Moisture detected for charging port, what to do.

There are many instructions on the Internet for cleaning the iPhone charging port, but many of them involve blowing with compressed air. But Apple recommends not to do this.

Fortunately, this procedure does not require any major costs. Here's what you'll need:

  • Flashlight- this is the most important thing with which you can clearly track whether everything is completely cleaned.
  • Toothpick- this is the tool you will use to clean the iPhone charging socket.
  • Cotton pad (optional) - it will help soften the tip of the toothpick to ensure that the charging port is protected from accidental damage.
  • Patience- this is the main “tool” that you will use throughout the entire cleaning process.
  • What to do

Step 1. Turn off the iPhone.

Step 2. Let's wind it up small amount of cotton (cotton yarn) on the tip of a toothpick. We press the fibers.

Step 3. We tilt the iPhone so that the charging port is on top. Place a toothpick inside.

Step 4. We slowly scrape out the debris that has accumulated in the charging port of the smartphone.

Step 5. We repeat the movements until the port is completely cleaned (check with a flashlight and a power connection).

We put the smartphone on charge, does everything work? If yes, you have completed the task. [

Any waterproof smartphone from the Galaxy series can display an error warning “Moisture detected while checking port” - this is an absolutely normal phenomenon and there is nothing wrong with that.

The smartphone signals to us that it has detected moisture in the USB Type-C connector - it is better not to charge the device. However, even if you are desperate and decide to charge anyway, nothing will work - charging will not work. Safety first!

By the way, here is the full text of the message

Checking the port. Moisture is detected on the charger port or USB port. Before charging your device, make sure it is completely dry. Any liquid that gets on the port may take some time to dry.

It would seem that there is nothing abnormal - we wait until the device dries and everything is “OK”. In principle, this is what happened before with all the smartphones that we had in our hands (Galaxy S7, S8, A-series, etc.)

But, just recently, a surprise awaited us. The smartphone took a bath (intentionally), dried (carefully) and... still refused to charge with the wording “checking the port, moisture was detected.” We waited a whole day - the problem did not go away. I had to act. And here is how you can defeat and bypass this malfunction:

By the way, it was the last method that helped us.

We forcefully restarted our Galaxy S9 (press and hold "Volume Down" + "Power") and the "port check detected moisture" warning disappeared. Here is a system failure, due to which we could not charge the smartphone using a wire for a day. Samsung, don't do this anymore :)

    Samsung a7 2017 purchase history

Before purchasing the treasured Samsung A7, I owned a Chinese miracle phone a brand that I will not name, so as not to accuse a competitor of buying anti-advertising. I changed my phone only because my wife needed a phone with a more capacious battery!

So there you go! I decided that I needed to take a phone from a well-known brand, so that without glitches and problems and with a less capacious battery. Since purely psychologically I can’t pay for the phone the amount that manufacturers want for their flagships, my choice was the Samsung galaxy a7 2017 for 24 thousand rubles in Citylink.

Wet review of Samsung galaxy a7 2017

The Samsung company clearly uses in marketing the fact that the Samsung A7 model, affordable for many, has an IP68 sealing class. And yes, this standard means that if the phone gets wet in the rain or dropped into a puddle, moisture will not get inside the case.

Moisture will get onto the contacts of the USB port, which has a humidity sensor, and the phone will show a message something like “Moisture has been detected on the USB charging port. The port must be completely dry before the charger can be connected.". Not quite verbatim, but I conveyed the meaning.

Fine! It seems like a useful feature to prevent possible damage after immersing the phone!

But, I didn’t even think about throwing my phone into a puddle or diving with it! I'll say more! I wasn’t even going to walk in the rain with it in my hands! And now the most important thing...

The sensor is very sensitive! It works even when high air humidity, eat your mallet, and at the same time our beloved Samsung galaxy a7 won't let me connect the charger!

“Ha, nonsense,” you might think, because high air humidity is a rare phenomenon for Russia; we don’t live in Thailand! So the point is that the phenomenon is not rare!

Ban on using Samsung a7 2017 based on geography

Now there is proof of the frequent occurrence of high air humidity in Russia.

I went in July, which means I went to work for a month Svobodny, Amur region. And there it rains every other day. One day it rains, one day the sun shines and it’s quite warm.

I took with me my almost new Samsung galaxy a7 2017 with the ability to connect 2 SIM cards, which is very useful for my work. AND a week later I discovered that my wonderful phone began to periodically show me a message about humidity on the contacts.

At first I thought that I got caught in the rain somewhere, although I was driving a company car and moving in quick dashes, but then I discovered such a message on a day when there was no rain at all.

Air humidity in Svobodny every day ranges from 75% to 100%. I am attaching a screenshot of the driest period without rain. Imagine what it was like during the period of constant rains!

And here's the problem! The battery of the Samsung a7 began to run low in the evening, but I can’t connect the charger due to the fact that the phone sees moisture on the contacts!

And then it began! First, I scoured the entire Internet in search of a possible solution. Based on recommendations from the Internet, I did the following:

    1. Wipe the contacts with a dry soft cloth
    2. Cleared cache and USBSettings data
    3. Turned off the phone and let it sit for half an hour
    4. I even did an extra action. I found a bag of silica gel and leaned it against the port hole for a while

Did I buy it for this? And even after turning on the phone, it gave the same message!

Another hour later, when the battery had 13% charge left, and I was depressed and defeated, our star Samsung a7 decided to have mercy on me and turned off the humidity alert on the USB port contacts. So my phone survived until today, when I decided to write my review.

And do you know why I decided to write a review? In the morning the phone again gave a message about moisture on the contacts!

I hope that my review will help at least someone and people will see this significant disadvantage of the phone among the many positive reviews of the Samsung galaxy a7 2017 phone..

    Typical Samsung message "Moisture detected"

The reason for this may be leaving the phone in a room with high humidity for a long time, such as a bath. It is also possible that you might have been caught in the rain, or were running and sweated a lot. But most often this is a software error in the phone.

    What to do? Solutions

You didn't get your phone wet, but it "detected moisture"? Let's figure out what could be the matter.

Why is moisture detected on my Samsung smartphone?

If the device detects moisture, the following message will appear on the screen: “Checking port. Moisture detected. The charging/USB port must be dry to charge the device.” The wording may vary depending on the phone model. Quite often, owners of Samsung Galaxy S9 and S9 Plus encounter this message.

There are several reasons for this notification to appear. In most cases, the phone actually came into contact with water. High humidity, such as in the shower or during rain, can also cause moisture to enter the USB connector. Don't forget that even sweat can damage the gadget if it was in your pocket while jogging or active training.

What to do if moisture is detected?

First, check if there is water on your smartphone or in the charging port. Wipe them as dry as possible with a towel and blow them thoroughly with cold air.

Sometimes this message may be due to a software error. In “Settings”, open “Applications” - “Show system applications” and select USB Settings. In the “Memory” section, click on the “Clear data” button.
