How to run as administrator (instructions):

The instructions are universal, suitable for Windows 7, Windows 8 and Windows 10. Also, be sure to read about exceptional situations below the instructions.

1. Open Explorer, go to the application folder. It is necessary to launch the executable file of the application, and not the shortcut. If you run the application as an administrator through a shortcut, the application will be launched with normal rights (how to distinguish a shortcut from an application is described below).

2. Right-click on the application and select “Run as administrator” from the context menu:

    • If there is no “Run as administrator” option, then the application is not digitally signed. Read below on how to launch it.

    Run as administrator (exceptions):

    1. If you run an application as an administrator using a shortcut, it will start with normal rights. You can distinguish a shortcut from the application itself by the characteristic mark at the bottom left of the application icon picture:

    To find out where an application is located, having its shortcut, right-click on it and select "Properties". The window that opens will contain the full path to the application.

    2. Windows 8 and Windows 10 will not allow you to run some (unsigned) applications as an administrator in the usual way. To run such applications, follow the instructions:

    2.1. Open the application folder in Explorer.

    2.2. Click on the "File" menu => "Open Command Prompt" => "Open Command Prompt as Administrator":

    2.3. In the command prompt window, write the name of the application (the name of the .exe file without ".exe") and press the Enter key, after which the application will start.

    I think each of you has repeatedly encountered a situation where, when launching some program, application, or, even more often, a game, an error or notification appeared that the launch must be done as an administrator. However, do not think that if you log in as an administrator, the program will launch as if by magic - this is not the case.

    There are several ways to run the program as an administrator in order to open it correctly. And in this article I would like to tell you about these methods, because such information will not be superfluous for anyone. Perhaps experienced “fighters” already know a lot, or maybe they will learn something new for themselves, but beginners will definitely benefit from this information.

    How to run as administrator

    So, the simplest and most proven way to run Windows 7 as an administrator is as follows:

    • right-click on the shortcut of the program you need;
    • A menu will appear in which one of the first positions will have the line “Run as administrator”, click.

    However, it is not interesting to perform these actions every time, because we all strive for a minimum number of movements and maximum results. Therefore, I propose to do this:

    • right-click on the program again, then select “Properties” at the very bottom of the context menu;
    • a new window will open with several tabs, select the one called “Compatibility”;
    • Now pay attention to the very bottom of the window. There is a “Privilege Level” field, next to which is the option “Run this program as an administrator.” Check the box and save the changes (Apply - OK).

    That's all, now you can run any program in the usual way, that is, by double-clicking the mouse, and it will run as administrator. As you can see, there is absolutely nothing complicated.

    I also want to tell you about other ways to run applications as an administrator without disabling User Account Control.

    • for example, you can use the key combination Ctrl+Shift+Enter. To do this, open the start menu and enter the named combination in the search bar. In this case, the “Control...” request will be displayed;
    • you can also use the task scheduler;
    • launch applications through, etc.

    There are many options, but they are still designed for a more experienced user. Therefore, if you are not yet confident in your abilities, use the proven method described at the beginning of the article.

    Often, novice users begin to have problems because they cannot run some program or file that requires administrator rights in the system. In fact, running as administrator is not something out of the ordinary and is quite simple in most cases. To run games or programs with administrator rights, there are two ways: either you give your entire account, or you simply run its file with the appropriate system privileges. First you need to understand the administration settings, which will require you to do some “magic passes”.

    So, running as an XP administrator proceeds as follows. Click on the treasured “Start” button and look for the “Control Panel” item there. We look for “Manage user accounts” there, and then click on the user icon. If you are an administrator, then there will be a corresponding inscription next to it.

    What about Windows 7? Running as administrator on this operating system is just as easy. In the same way, find the same “Control Panel” and look for an item there and then click on it. At the end, you should also click on your username.

    If your account is not an administrator, then you will have to work a little to correct this annoying error. To do this, you need to change the record type to administrator. In the same one that opens by clicking on your account name, find the item “Change your account type”. By clicking on it, you will be taken to the next settings window, in which you need to check the box next to the type you need.

    All. From now on, running as an administrator in most cases will occur automatically and without your participation. But if not, then what to do? Oh, even in this case, you shouldn’t expect any special difficulties.

    In good old XP, you need to perform the following manipulations. You should hold down the Shift button on the keyboard, and then right-click on the program shortcut or executable file, after which you will need to find the “Run as” item in the drop-down context menu. By clicking on this item, select the administrator account. If this account is protected by a password, then running as an administrator will be possible only if you know it. In older versions of the Windows family of operating systems, everything is even simpler.

    So, in Windows Vista, 7&8, follow these steps. You should right-click on the file or program shortcut, and then select “Properties” from the context menu that appears. There is a tab called “Compatibility”, which you need to look for at the top of the window. In it you need to find the “Privilege Level” item. Immediately below it is an empty checkbox “Run this program as an administrator”, which must be filled out by left-clicking on it with your “rodent”. After this, click on the “OK” button.

    Since Vista, Windows has included additional security measures that require users and programs to take a series of steps to perform certain types of operations. For example, even if you are the administrator of this computer, you still need to run programs with the special “run as administrator” option.

But when configuration begins to turn into routine mouse clicking, this fact is very exciting.

    Sometimes the download and installation process freezes, or installed games do not launch. Follow the steps below to fix problems with Origin games and continue playing.

    Downloading games in Safe Mode now happens by default in Origin. This means you won't have to launch it yourself when trying to fix a problem because all your games will already be loaded in Safe Mode.

    We did this to prevent potential data corruption during downloading and to improve download reliability.

    Still having problems downloading or installing? Read on.

    If you are using a PC and your downloads are stuck at the 4GB mark, it is possible that the problem is due to the formatting of your hard drive. Some hard drives are formatted with the FAT32 file system, which may cause problems with files larger than 4 GB.

    To find out the file system of your hard drive, follow the instructions below:

    1. Click on menu "Start" on the Windows taskbar.
    2. Find "This computer".
    3. Right-click on this item and select "Control".
    4. Select "Disk Management".

    Find the partition with your disks. You will see the size of your disk partitions and their format (for example, (C:)XXGBNTFS or FAT32). If you have a second hard drive, check its format.

    If the disc format FAT32, contact your PC manufacturer to find a solution to the problem.

    PC

    1. Close the Origin client
    2. Open "Control Panel"(you can find it using the keywords “control panel” in start menu).
    3. Click "Uninstall a program" under the heading "Programs".
    4. Press Origin and select "Delete".

    Try running Origin as an administrator:

    1. Close the Origin client
    2. Right-click the Origin client shortcut on your desktop (or in the Origin folder if there is no shortcut on your desktop) and select "Run as administrator".

    This will launch the Origin client as an administrator, which will allow you to install the game.

    Try changing your User Account Control settings:

    1. Close the Origin client
    2. Click on the button Windows and type "UAC" in the search bar.

    Try reinstalling Origin:

    Try running a file with the extension .dmg:

    1. Close the Origin client and other non-essential programs.

    4. Open Macintosh HD > Libraries > Application Support > Origin > DownloadCache.
    5. Find the folder of the game you are trying to install, and then find the file with the extension .dmg.

      • If there is an error when launching or you cannot find a file with a .dmg extension, the game will not work.
      • Empty folder DownloadCache by dragging files to cart. Restart the Origin client and start the download again.

    Games won't launch on Origin? The "Repair" option will check the installation files and automatically download any necessary replacement or missing files. If corrupted files are found, they will be re-uploaded and replaced.

    Try using the "Restore" option

    1. Open game library on Origin.
    2. Right-click on the game icon.
    3. Select "Restore".
